Win in the first game of the series was a real surprise for anybody, specialists couldn’t predict and expect that playoff hockey from Spartak side after very bad finishing of the regular season. We guess, also SKA was a little bit shocked after first contest. Coaches made just one mistake returning Kaspars Daugavins to the lineup instead of Dmitry Chernykh.

The game started pretty hard, we got some penalties, but penalty-killing work extremely well especially in first period. Unfortunately we couldn’t capitalize our own chances as two days ago. The second period was the best from home side in these two games that’s why they were able to score twice showing that they’re still good team with a lot of skill players. But we could cut their lead in the second frame when Martins Karsums didn’t convert a breakaway chance.

The momentum changed in the third when our captain Dmitry Kalinin decided to go to the net and fired from a close range to make it 2-1. With three minutes left Ilya Talaluyev was first on the rebound after Dmitry Vishnevsky’s blast from the blue line. Overtime? No! With five seconds remaining Martins Karsums finished an ideal combination of the partners to steal a show! Spartak is coming back to Moscow with 2-0 lead. Could you believe it?
