After the break Spartak was set to play game against CSKA. Unfortunately, last years they had little problem in games against us. Earlier this season CSKA beat us on home ice with 9-3 score. Coaches decided to put to the lineup two newcomers – defensemen Tobias Viklund and Damir Musin.

Our team started the game well opening the scoreboard on 9th minute of the play. Mikhail Yunkov deflected the puck near the crease after Artyom Fyodorov’s shot. In two minutes, Ilya Zubov with a nice shot doubled our lead. In another two minutes Alexei Marchenko cut our lead.

In the second period the game was more even, however CSKA dominated on the ice in the third. Our troops stayed strong for most of the time but allowed a goal with 45 seconds to play in the game. These circumstances did not ruin our plans to seal a win. In last minute of the overtime the puck crossed the line after contact with a skate of Ilya Zubov. Officials needed a plenty of time to make a decision – good goal.

Spartak beat CSKA for first time in six years and caught SKA in the standings. We could finish this day at the 2nd place of the West, but we are at 4th spot due to goal difference.
